According to new allegations from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, now completing a 20-year prison term for sex-trafficking crimes, is allegedly readying a clemency request for review by the Trump administration.

Preferential Handling Claimed at Correctional Facility

Congressional Democrats on the judicial oversight panel revealed that a source provided information indicating the inmate is working on the clemency petition. Additionally, they mentioned she has been receiving special treatment at the federal prison camp in Texas.

Representative Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the committee, declared in a official statement that the prison’s warden was “helping” the convict with copying, printing, and sending documents to aid her effort for executive mercy.

Specific details of the clemency request are unclear, the congressman noted.

Claimed Perks and Custom Arrangements

The representative claims that, according to the whistleblower, the prisoner has been receiving “customized” meals that are “personally delivered” to her cell, and the supervisor has individually organized private meetings for her and her guests.

The visits allegedly include a “special cordoned-off area” for attendees and a variety of food and drinks for her guests.

Maxwell’s visitors were also allowed to carry electronic devices, which Raskin described as an “unprecedented action” given the security risk and chance of unsupervised contact.

Reportedly on one occasion, when phone lines went down for other inmates, Maxwell was provided directions about who she should tell her associates to contact and how staff would connect the communication to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The source also allegedly told House Democrats that when Maxwell wanted to examine and modify papers “quickly”, she reportedly employed the official as her private aide.

The news release indicates that Maxwell’s correspondents would send files directly to the warden, who would hand them over to Maxwell, for her to examine and change and return them to the warden to scan and provide to the original sender.

Extra Benefits Reported

Other privileges allegedly granted to Maxwell include opportunities to interact with a trainee assistance dog – a benefit not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as private after-hours access to the prison exercise area.

Her legal counsel did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the whistleblower’s claims.

In a statement, the White House said that it “does not comment” on possible pardon appeals.

“As President Trump has stated, pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has considered,” the spokesperson added.

Recent Background

Recently, it was reported that she told friends and family in emails from prison that she was more content at the new prison than her previous prison.

In August, Maxwell was moved from a low-security prison in Tallahassee, Florida to the minimum-security camp in Texas, where most detainees are incarcerated for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

The transfer, which authorities called as exceptional, occurred just shortly following she was questioned about the Epstein case by the senior justice official, the official, who also previously served as Donald Trump's private attorney.

This questioning came as the Trump administration was facing mounting pressure to disclose additional files related to the ongoing probe and amid widespread conjecture around the President's own connections to the fallen billionaire and convicted sex offender, who was found dead in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting prosecution on sex-trafficking charges.

Lawmaker Reactions

In the news release, Raskin also announced that he had sent a letter to the President, demanding answers about the whistleblower’s allegations, and called on the president to deny Maxwell’s commutation request.

“You should not grant any type of pardon to this adjudicated and remorseless criminal,” the representative stated in the document. “The government must not offer her with personal amenities, with canine interaction, with federal law enforcement officials attending to her requests, or with any special treatment or institutional privilege at all.”

The congressman asked that Blanche appear for a open legislative session to address the disclosures and also posed three questions to Trump.

He inquired whether he had discussed a potential commutation for the convict with Blanche or others, whether he had instructed him or anyone else to provide Maxwell with the transfer or special conditions in prison, and whether Maxwell, her attorneys, family or agents have made any commitments to Trump or his legal team.

Raskin has asked for a response to the inquiries by 24 November.
